Went to Holmberg’s today to pick some fruit… was a pleasant surprise to see that their pumpkins have arrived and to take a photo of the ‘pumpkin pile’
My Grandmother used to grow these every year in the planters along a cinder block wall. There would be hundreds of them in a variety of colors and we would go out and pick them to put in a vase to sit on the dinner table. We also went out and collected the pea pods so they could be used for the next years’ plants. This year I decided to try to start some from seeds I had bought at the local garden shop. They don’t seem to do as well in CT as they used to in my Grandmother’s garden in AZ.
This rose was actually supposed to be a white tea rose. Tea roses however are typically grafted onto another rose stock… the grafting on this one didn’t take and I was left with the original root stock. Not exactly what I wanted however it blooms profusely during the fall.
