It was recently pointed out to me that I’m delinquent in posting to my blog…
My New Years Resolution this year was to “stay out of the hospital”
– In the past 4 years I’ve had a 3rd degree burn on my hand, a serious allergic reaction, and 2 surgeries. I decided focusing on my health and ‘staying out of the hospital’ was a great idea. First up in regaining my healthy life was getting back into running. Unfortunately, during the ‘serious allergic reaction’ I had a serious heart reaction to the prednisone. I finally fought my fears about it and got referred to a cardiologist. Turns out it seems my heart is fine – it’s just fast… Treadmill stress test had a steady heart rate of 206 bpm. So not just fast, incredibly fast. The theoretical max for an infant is 240 bpm… for someone who is 45, it is 195 bpm… and that is max for a very short period, you’re not supposed to be sustaining it… Dr diagnosed me as having inappropriate sinus tachycardia and I’m trying out a new medication which seems to be lowering my heart rate without lowering my blood pressure and making me pass out! I am running again and managed to complete a slow 5k on my treadmill last week.
So step one taken…
I’ve also been re-evaluating what all I do with my time. Working as a web designer has become frustrating as most people do not want to pay a designer. It is easier and at times cheaper to use one of the boxed theme providers. I say at times cheaper because I have noticed that these places charge high monthly fees which over time make them more… But not being an aggressive sales person, I’m not competitive. I do have an edge when it comes to computer tech for my clients and I have been doing more computer troubleshooting and repair but that doesn’t fulfill my creative side. Computer troubleshooting is frustrating in its own means. Between the aggressive computer hackers/malware and now Microsoft forcing Windows 10 on people who do not want it… I’ve had to remove Windows 10 from several computers when it has been installed without being wanted – one of which upgraded despite the fact I had changed registry entries which should have prevented the upgrade! It’s a job and I know my clients appreciate my knowledge and support but again… not exactly creative…
I’ve also been knitting more and have become addicted to Ravelry. I’ve been asked by several friends if I would be interested in teaching or making items on commission… haven’t fully explored options or ideas on this… maybe…
Photography has been suggested… but again… like design, the market for photography has been pillaged…
So, this is where I am now… still dabbling in Design, Tech, Photography and Knitting… and wondering what I’m going to do with my life when I grow up…
