Another of the Kindle Daily Deals I picked up… very bizzarre book. It was beautifully written. Effectively one of the handmaid’s tales about the Land of Gilead – a futuristic US after some Christian fanatics kill off the president and congress – where the handmaids are passed from home to home to concieve children for the house…

But who can remember pain, once it’s over? All that remains of it is a shadow, not in the mind even, in the flesh. Pain marks you, but too deep to see. Out of sight, out of mind.
